SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – “Right now we are in the process of our final placement of what we call our Hardware racks tubes borders that are ultimately going to send shells up in the air,” said Jeff Thomas with Pyro Spectacular, who is the company behind the July 4th fireworks show in San Francisco.
Thomas says this year, the show will go beyond the average 20-minute firework display.
“It is SF so a little more ‘oomph’ to make it special,” he said.
Over 10,000 fireworks will be launched from two barges floating in the Bay Wednesday night starting at 9:30 p.m.
KRON4 asked Thomas, who helped design the show, where is the best place to physically sit and watch the fireworks?
“Pier 39 and Aquatic Park, or anywhere along the waterfront,” he responded.

“It will travel up to about 800 feet in the sky before it performs. It’s got some little tails on the top here that’s gonna make a trail in the sky that goes up. This particular shell is an 8-inch Nishiki Kamuro, which is a nice hanging, big breaking, gold shell, that will just have a lot of duration and just keep falling and falling. It’s one of the best shells in the show,” he replied.
