I’d heard Lionsgate were looking at developing TV series based on quite a few of their past film franchises – I’ll see if I can get the OK to mention a couple in future posts – and seems that’s still very much a to-do over at Colorado Avenue.
Lionsgate Television chairman Kevin Beggs has revealed two of the projects he’s bringing to the box: “American Psycho” and “Saw”.
The newest take on Bret Easton Ellis’ popular novel will be a series- and obviously without original movie lead Christian Bale- while the “Saw” project is said to be a spin-off of the movie series.
Beggs tells Deadline, “We’ve just wrapped up Dear White People, which was a really good experience. Blindspotting is coming up. American Psycho is in development. We’re always exploring what we can do in television with something like the Saw franchise, so that’s a conversation.”
