MIDLAND, Texas (ABC Big 2/Fox 24) – We’re leading up to the final days until Valentine’s Day and despite the cold weather we’re getting, shops like Flowerama in Midland are still staying very busy.
From fresh roses to stuffed animals to heart shaped balloons…
“It’s like something that shows like a person loves you and stuff and whenever I get flowers I’m so grateful,” said K’lynn Garcia.
…Garcia wants to make sure her step-mom gets something special.
“She really helps me out and she’s like a mom to me so I think it’s important that we kind of show her that love and affection,” said Garcia.
“Normally on Valentine’s, today itself, we maybe see 500 to 600 people on that one single day. With the weather, they may come in tomorrow instead of Sunday but yes we see a lot on those last two or three days,” said owner Raymond Boss.
And not everyone here is an employee.
What my surprise you there are people like Dvon Savas volunteering their time to help.
“You know the pandemic everything is kind of gray right now so like these flowers kind of brighten up people’s days. So you know, whatever I can do to help you know to brighten somebody’s day,” said Savas.
Savas also bought flowers for his loved one.
“I made a purchase earlier and delivered it to my mother and you know she started crying,” said Savas. “It’s not just about flowers, it’s about what they represent.”
They’re a kind gesture on the holiday of love.
“Just spread a little joy, a little warmth, it’s pandemic, it’s also ugly weather, you want something that makes you feel happy,” said Boss.
Flowerama will be open all the way to Sunday but they are warning customers not to wait until the last minute.
